Sam Hecht and Kim Colin have dispensed with the most characteristic components of the table lamp – the base and the stem – by resting the glass structure directly on its standing surface.
The lamp and electronics are held in a metal canopy within the glass dome, creating the impression that they are suspended in mid-air.
The deliberate reduction of these constituent elements is accompanied by scrupulous attention to detailing and finish. This is particularly evident in particular in the rotary dimmer located at the top of the lamp, which also serves to join the metal and glass elements together.
Rigorous yet poetic, Semplice represents Sam Hecht and Kim Colin’s first collaboration with Oluce.
